At Abode, we believe that advice should come from a qualified professional and in person.
That’s why we only insure carefully selected properties following a full appraisal, to be certain that a property and its contents are insured accurately and to the correct value.
Unlike other insurance advisors, we do not receive any commission from the insurer we recommend on your behalf. We work with our clients on an agreed fee basis, which reduces the tax value on insurance premiums by as much as 30% and ensures that you have full transparency of how your premium is calculated.
We start with a personal visit to your home to understand your requirements, learn what’s important to you and, most importantly, appraise your unique property with your input. Appointments are only carried out by our most experienced client directors, who regularly advise high-profile clients who wish to keep their personal arrangements confidential. Their extensive experience and knowledge ensures that your home and assets will be fully protected in the event of a claim.
Following the visit, your personal account director will work with Ecclesiastical Insurance to arrange terms for your home. We will also complete a full market review to ensure that you have a range of options and, once you’ve confirmed your decision, we will arrange with your preferred insurer to go ahead with the cover.
All personally invited clients who insure with Ecclesiastical are offered an appointment to meet with their dedicated claims professional. During this visit, your client director and claims advisors will help identify and document ways to improve your existing security arrangements in order to reduce your property’s exposure to risks, including theft, water damage and cyber-attack. You will also receive guidance and advice on how we support you in the event of a claim.
From the start of your policy, you will be given a single point of contact who will act as your personal concierge for your insurance needs. They will be available to you to deal with any issues that you might have, and will handle changes to your policy discreetly, professionally and expertly. You will have direct access to them via mobile, email or video conference, according to your wishes.
Typically, an insurance broker receives commission from the insurer it recommends. Often, this figure is not disclosed – and there’s no obligation for your broker to specify the amount unless you ask. The commission is usually a percentage of the premium that you pay, ranging between 25% and 30% – but it’s not the most tax-efficient way to purchase insurance.
At Abode, our approach is different. We negotiate with insurers on your behalf and any premiums quoted exclude any and all commission. Instead, we work with you to agree a fixed annual fee in advance. This means you can make an informed choice about which insurer is right for you, safe in the knowledge our advice is not influenced by commission earnings. At Abode, we believe in being fully transparent about how we calculate insurance premiums for our clients, and we review our pricing annually.
